Cathedral High School’s College Prep curriculm is enhanced by the number of partnerships we are proud to list below.
Turner Construction has teamed up with Cathedral High School by offering a mentorship program to students who are interested in learning more about STEM related career opportunities. With each student having their own individual mentor, Turner Construction has committed to showing our students what engineering and construction jobs look like for women in STEM.
Sutton Place Parks Conservancy is an organization located right in the same Sutton Place neighborhood of Manhattan that Cathedral High School is located. They organizations goal is to help revitalize and preserve the local parks as. well as host many events open to the public at the parks. Cathedral High School teamed up with Sutton Place Parks Conservancy for the first time when the 58th street park needed to be remodeled. Cathedral Tech students and AP Environmental students collaborated to redesign the flower beds to provide a beautiful year round park that now includes a monarch butterfly weigh station and native plants. Cathedral and Sutton Place Parks Conservancy still continue a valuable relationship tying together the school and local neighborhood.
Cathedral High School's STEM Director, Jonathan Boo attended SUNY Oswego and continues a relationship with faculty there. Ten of Cathedral High School's advanced Tech students participated in a two day field trip to SUNY Oswego where they presented their furniture designs to a college level design class and actively participated in a critique of their work. The students also received a tour of the campus and the Technology department where they were immersed in a college setting to come back to Cathedral High School with a new perspective.
Engineering Tomorrow is an organization that provides endless STEM related content and curriculum and hosts field trips and workshops for multiple schools. Cathedral High School is a host location for some workshops and our students participate in field trips as often as possible. In the past, our students have visited the Newton Creek Waste Water Treatment Center and learned about where NYC gets it's water and how its treated safely after use. Students have also visited the Bloomberg building and learned about Bloomberg Engineering and what a career in engineering looks like and what it takes to get there.
We are have partnered with Junior Achievement (JA) for the past 6 years making us a Silver partner. Through our partnership, JA provides our students with speakers and online coursework in finance, entrepreneurship, and marketing. This coming February we will be a part of their Business Plan Competition.
Inner-City Scholarship Fund’s Job Opportunities Program gives nearly 150 high school juniors attending inner-city Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of New York the opportunity to gain experience in a business setting through job-readiness workshops and paid summer internships at many of New York’s most prestigious companies and organizations. Student participants attend a series of career preparation seminars conducted by a dedicated group of volunteers from the business community where they learn basic skills that will help them acquire and retain that first, crucial job in today’s dynamic workplace.
The Job Opportunities Program ensures that inner-city students are equipped with the knowledge and up-to-date skill sets they will need to enter a rapidly evolving workforce in the first stage of their career.
Cathedral High School has had a successful partnership with St. Francis College. Through the Bridge Plus Program, our students take courses in areas of organization and management, introduction to entrepreneurship, and business law for college credit. Upon completetion of the program, students receive 3 college credits per course.
In 2007, Moses & Singer began its long-time association with Cathedral High School which includes providing internships, mentoring, and serving as advisors for the award-winning Cathedral Mock Trial team. On April 30th, 2019, Alexandra P. Kolod accepted the Cathedral High School Excelsior Award in recognition of Moses & Singer’s commitment to offering Cathedral students impactful educational experiences that will make a difference in college and in their professional lives.
Our partnership with Futures and Options has been very successful. The program empowers our students to explore careers through career development and paid, mentored internships. Through their program, our students have received internships in fields that are of interest to them. We are also proud to also be able to work with one of our own graduates who is on their staff team.
Our partnership with Ernst & Young provides our seniors with excellent opportunities. Each month, four different seniors spend a day at the Ernst & Young offices, with a total of twenty-four seniors experiencing this great venture last school year. Their day at Ernst & Young consisted of shadowing members of the firm, exposure to the business and world class clients. Throughout the internship they received regular feedback, guidance and coaching from professionals to help them develop the skills they need to succeed. They also improved important skills, such as presenting and networking while also learning to care for their physical, emotional, social and financial well-being. At the conclusion of the program, our students reported they felt a real sense of belonging and that their opinions mattered. We are eager to continue this partnership when school is back in session full time.

Some of these partnerships also invite our students to particpate in scienitic conferences where they can ask questions and chat with medical personnel in the fields in which they are interested in studying. The Ignatian Volunteer Corps (IVC) provides Cathedral High School with volunteers with talents and skills that match our needs.
Through our partnership with IVC, we have been lucky to work with volunteers who have upgraded our school library, and moderate some of our clubs such as our photography and Mock Trial team.
The NYPL – 53rd Street Branch has been a partner of CHS for the past 4+ years. Through our partnership, all of our students are provided with a library card and opportunities to attend workshops for SAT Prep, College Essay writing and much more.
Our partnership allows the opportunity to host a college fair for Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese of New York.
Students enrolled in our ASL classes have the opportunity to visit American School for the Deaf (ASD), the first and oldest school for the Deaf in the United States and St. Joseph's School for the Deaf. Our students interact with Deaf students, and have the opportunity to visit ASD's museum on campus. This is a mutually beneficial partnership and a great way to engage children both Deaf and hearing in our community, as well as exposure of the Deaf community.
As part of the activities of the World Youth Alliance club each year, members have the opportunity to attend meetings of the Commission for the Status of Women (CSW). held at the United Nations. During these meetings, students get to hear from international speakers addressing topics concerning the rights of women all over the world. Students also have an opportunity to visit conference rooms within the UN facility, tour the complex and interact with UN delegates from around the world.
