Welcome Guidance
News & Notes
Freshman
Edition
September 2005

The members of the
Guidance Department would like to welcome you to Cathedral. We hope that this will be a happy and successful year for you.
We are always ready to help you …but first some information
about us.
The
Guidance Office is on the second floor. It
is open from 7:30 to 3:15 every day. The assigned freshman counselors will be sending you appointment slips to meet with
you individually
and as part of a group. This does
not mean that you are in trouble. We
want to make sure that you are doing well.
If
you need to see a counselor before you receive an appointment slip, come to the
Guidance Office. You are always
welcome. If there is a question
that you need to ask but you don’t know who can answer it, come and ask us.
If we don’t know the answer, we can locate the person who can answer
your question.
During
the first week of September, group-counseling sessions will begin. You will
receive a slip listing your name with others in your group. The appointment slip will tell you the time that you should report to the
Guidance Office. These slips are
given out in homeroom. When it is
time to meet with your group, you must first show your appointment slip to your
subject teacher. Then, with her/his
permission you should report to your counselor. During the first meeting of your
group, you will also be given a Freshman Handbook for use “in group.” You should bring it with you to “group.”
Individual
appointments are scheduled in a similar way. You will receive a pink pass in homeroom with the time of your
appointment indicated. Once again, you must present this pass to your subject
teacher before coming to the Guidance Office. If
you have a test, your appointment will be rescheduled.
DON’T
FORGET--YOU DON’T NEED TO WAIT FOR AN APPOINTMENT. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM OR A QUESTION, COME AND SEE US.
