PROCEDURE

  • Explain different formats of digital audio used today (i.e. iPod uses .ACC)

  • Demonstrate how to rip a song from a CD using iTunes (in .mp3 format)

  • Explain the use of Audacity as a free audio editor (menus etc.)

  • Show the shape of a song as a waveform

  • Record students' voices and elaborate on the waveform of the sound

  • Ask students to rip 10 favorite songs from their CDs in mp3

  • Ask students to add their own audio tracks by recording their own voice

  • Students are asked to create a 3-minute project with the 10 songs (30 seconds each) overlapped with the pre-recorded audio tracks

  • Students will record their presentation on the blank CD provided

  • Students will present before the class and share their ideas and impressions

  • Students visit www.gigglepoetry.com , pick a poem, a music that goes with it, and record the recitation on Audacity
