Sixth
Annual Hall of Fame
Honoring
the Women of Cathedral High School
January 17, 2006
Mutual of America, New York, NY
In commemoration of
CHS’s Centennial Anniversary, the Sixth Annual Hall of Fame honored all the
Women of Cathedral who have passed through its doors. The event, which took
place on January 17 at Mutual of America in New York City, included a student
art auction, raffle prizes, an appearance by our student choir as well as the
induction of several alumnae into the Cathedral High School Hall of Fame.
Each of the
alums honored that evening represent careers that many of our graduates have
followed, such as law, motherhood, author, education, sciences, and finance. Honored
that evening were Sue Ann Hoahng ‘74, Pat Powers Rothacker ‘50, Sonia
Ortiz-Gulardo’64, Adele Vera-Angel ’68, and Miriam Rossi ’70.
We thank Mutual of America for underwriting the entire event so that 100
percent
of the proceeds will go towards our Student Scholarship Fund benefiting the
Young Women of Cathedral High School. Our Seventh Annual Hall of Fame is
scheduled for November 2006. More information will be posted on our website, www.cathedralhs.org as the date approaches.
The Hall
of Fame event, our most important fund raising event of the year, permits us
to honor and
celebrate some of the generous individuals that help us accomplish our mission
of offering young women
of all faiths and cultures an excellent education, as well as continued growth
in their religious
maturity, moral integrity, and sense of social justice.
Each year the cost of
educating each student keeps rising. Tuition covers only 70 percent of the real cost
of
educating each student. The gap must be met with a variety of fund-raising
programs.
Because of
the tremendous generosity of Mutual of America who underwrites the entire
Hall of Fame Event,
100 percent of the proceeds from this event will be used to provide tuition
scholarships
for our most deserving students.
