Transfer Students

Cathedral High School does accept qualified transfer students into the freshman, sophomore and junior years. Senior transfers are rarely considered, except in the case of a student moving to New York from outside the area or other special circumstances.  The application below will give you an opportunity to express your desire to attend Cathedral and to be considered for acceptance into our school. Please note that admission into Cathedral High School is not guaranteed.

Generally, a typical transfer student will have good grades and show good conduct, dedication and hard work. There is no entrance exam for transfer students. The majority of students that wish to transfer mid-school year will not be accepted until January unless special circumstances apply.

In order to complete your application you must do the following:
  1. Fill out the Transfer Student application (see below).
  2. Please include academic transcripts from the previous three academic school years (including current year). If you are applying before the end of a school year and an official transcript is not available, send copies of the most current report card along with the two years prior.
  3. Submit the requested information to the address provided on the application form. Please know that teacher recommendation letters are accepted but not mandatory. If you would like to submit them please use our Teacher Recommendation form.

Once Cathedral has received your completed application, it will be reviewed and filed. You will be contacted by phone regarding your application process. Please know that you and your parent/guardian may be asked to come in for an interview. If you have any questions regarding this process please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Velez at (212) 688-1545 ext 224 or through email at jcastex@cathedralhs.org
