Student Council

Since its inception, Cathedral High School has had an active Student Council.  The purpose of the Student Council is

  • To maintain and develop an intellectually stimulating atmosphere conductive to the acquisition and application of newly acquired knowledge
  • To take action in the best interest of the student body, administration, faculty and staff
  • To provide an official voice through which student opinion may be expressed
  • To provide an official and representative student on school designated committees, which receive complaints, investigate student problems and participate in decisions involving students
  • To promote the exchange of information and ideas among the various schools throughout the diocese
  • To establish and maintain formal communication between the student body, the faculty, and administration
  • To provide viable social activities to promote a sense of belonging and spirit among the student body, administration, faculty and staff
  • To lead the student body to engage in activities to promote social justice

Student Council organizes many events throughout the school year. Below are some pictures and a brief description of some events that took place at Cathedral HS.
Pep Rally Pep Rally took place during Spirit Week.  Cathedralites showed their school spirit by cheering for their school basketball team as they played a very important game against a rival school.

Twin Day Twin Day, which was part of Spirit Week, was not only exciting but also unique at the same time.  The girls at Cathedral dressed like twins rather than wearing their regular school uniform.

Crazy Stocking Day  This is another school day where students are not dressed in their regular attire.  The stocking designs  are of their choice.

Hat and Tie Day  Again, one of those school days where the style of dress is unique.

Teacher Appreciation Day Students on this day had the privilege of teaching and conducting the classes.  Students also had the advantage of wearing professional clothes and actually gave homework and surprised some classes with quizzes and tests.

Student as a Teacher -

The Bazaar This annual bazaar takes place in the school gymnasium for two days during the first week of December.  The bazaar consists of tables containing new merchandise where raffle tickets can be purchased.  Other tables have for sale flea market items, bake goods, jewelry, Christmas decorations and baskets.

Dress Downs   These are days when students are allowed to wear regular clothes rather than the uniform. Student Council has increased the number of dress downs every year. This year each dress down has a specific theme that each student tries to follow. For example, for Christmas the girls had to wear red clothing.
