Class of 1955 celebrates Golden Jubilee! Cathedral’s Golden Jubilee class of 1955 held its 50th reunion on April 23, 2005 at Rosie O’Grady’s in midtown Manhattan. Despite the threatening weather, about 74 classmates (and a few spouses) gathered for a very joyous afternoon of renewing old acquaintances and recalling highlights of our days at CHS. Attendees included classmates who have remained lifelong friends and some who were seeing their classmates for the first time in fifty years. One classmate from California traveled the farthest to attend but there were several classmates from outside the Metropolitan NY/NJ area. Photos from previous reunions as well as some from our senior trip to Washington, DC were displayed. Several copies of the 1955 Spires were produced to jog memories already aided by nametags that included the wearer’s yearbook photo. There were also personal photos of student productions and classroom events that circulated among those present. The afternoon ended with the singing of the school song (lyrics provided in the program) and a hearty round of applause for the organizers, Marie C. Heaney and Cathy K. Hartdegen. Many of those present plan to gather again at the CHS centennial celebration in September, 2005.
